Fr. Kiely,
Had to drop a line here. Spectacular article this week in the Trib. Should have been front page instead of back. Leaves me wondering though, are you the official food taster or did you leave the reservation to float your own agenda? Time will tell. You should, of course, be suited up in armor for the predictable backlash of the libtards in this diocese. Perhaps you can get a staurno in stainless! You have gored one of their sacred oxen!

A little of both, Rod - don't worry, I have both a steel saturno and a steel cassock.

Fr. Owl, so let's see the saturno! It's the equivalent of coming into a new parish, kicking the door open and throwing the hand grenade in! Surely there must be at least one person you trust in Stowe to hold the camera while you pose.

BTW, why is your blog pic of the guy wearing the biretta wearing it the wrong way around? Or is that a test to see who notices?

Great article, Owl. It was gentle, informative, and hopefully thought provoking for those who've never considered the issue. I have to admit that it took me awhile to get my nerve up to receive on the tongue. As someone who grew up Protestant the whole notion was pretty foreign. I suspect, however, that it's a pretty foreign notion for many who grew up post Vatican II as well. So articles like this are really necessary, and gentle encouragement from priests is really necessary. The example of the Holy Father is an excellent start.

As far as the "libtards" are concerned... I'm happy to say you aren't the only one goring their ox. There's some goring going on in our neck of the woods as well. THANKS BE TO GOD!

I did talk with one "libtard" (a member of the laity who happens to be influential in the Burlington area) who is most unhappy with the current trends. She even rails against a rigid adherence to the rubrics at Mass as not being open to the workings of the Holy Spirit. So I do know that there continue to be those voices out there and that sometimes they may sound very loud. Please know, however, that there are loads of people who don't shout as loud, but who are quietly cheering.

All in good time, Karen - all will be revealed!

Don't tell us you "lost" it like you "lost" your alb last year. That took you forever to find.

[No dog fleas this time, I hope?]

Bells and the Roman Canon in our parish today. Someone's ox is undoubtedly feeling gored, but I'm rejoicing. The theology of the Roman canon is so clear. The language is so beautiful. I wonder why we've never heard it in the last 11 years.

Now for a picture of the Owl wearing the saturno...
