Homecoming

"There is no homecoming like the homecoming into an English house in their windy dusk, and it is best of all when one so comes home from off the sea." - Hilaire Belloc.

I don't know if a Virgin Atlantic flight from JFK to Heathrow counts as coming home from "off the sea," but I will be flying home on Christmas Day, after my Masses, to celebrate the Holy Season for the first time in nine years with family and friends. I will be leaving Vermont deep in snow for whatever the English weather has to offer. As time is rather short, I wish all three of my devoted readers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

And take a pic of your favorite ornament if your mum has it!

Merry Christmas to you, Fr. Owl! I do hope you will have good travelling weather. I expect the plane will have lots of room for you to stretch out. I've travelled on Thanksgiving Day before and that was the case.

[BTW, I think you have at least 6 or 7 regular readers. ;-D And I bet you don't even have to count your mom on that one.]

And if you fancy a trip to the coast while in the UK, just leave me a message on the blog.

Merry Christmas, Owl. I hope you have loads of pudding and other wonderful British treats. We just finished a roast goose/roast beef dinner followed by flaming plum pudding. Of course, it's not England, but England isn't home for us either.

We are so appreciative of you and the other priests in our diocese who serve us far from your home turf. Our parish has been so blessed by our assistant pastor from Nigeria and I know that the parishes you serve and have served have been blessed by you as well. It's wonderful that God has called all of you as missionaries to us.

Have a wonderful time with your friends and family.
