"This truly great Englishman"

Words of the Holy Father, spoken at his General Audience, in preparation for the most important and difficult visit of his Papacy, about Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman who will be beatified next Sunday..........."this truly great Englishman....it is my hope that more and more people will benefit from his gentle wisdom and be inspired by his example of integrity and holiness of life." Pope Benedict XVI. The words the Pope applies to Newman could just as easily refer to Pope Benedict - except he would be a "truly great Bavarian!"

Do you have a link for the JHN novena? All the references I've located go back to one dead link.

Hurrah! The owl hoots!

[Your faithful readers give a hoot. :-D]

For the novena prayer:

""God Our Father, your servant John Henry Newman upheld the faith by his teaching and example.
"May his loyalty to Christ and the Church, his love for the Immaculate Mother of God, and his compassion for the perplexed give guidance to the Christian people today.
"We beg you to grant the favors we ask through his intercession so that his holiness may be recognized by all and the Church may proclaim him a saint. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen."

According to this link.

Was that what you were looking for laurie?
