Father,
I've been following this blog since it came on-line and I must say that this is the first time I've felt disappointed with you.
This picture is hardly representative of the Spirit of VII and does a gross disservice to the adherents of said spirit. If you are going to portray the ambiance of the philosophy at least give them their due.
I would suggest at a minimum that the official Spirit of VII rites mandate in this ceremony;
A priest in clown garb- or at the request of the family a Barney costume-, facing the people of course.
Multiple felt banners.
Liturgical dancers in traditional Victoria's Secret designed costumes leading the procession.
Multitudes of lay ministers elbowing each other for the best spots/roles.

Really Father, it is grossly unfair for you to portray the Spirit of VII "zeitgeist" in such a fashion :) .

But it's being buried in the "Extaordianry Rite!"

I have to say father, i think this is my favorite so far of your humorous picture posts. I'm so glad you are able to keep a sense of humor about everything that has happened in the last 40 years, considering how hard and frustrating it can be at times to foster reform b/c of all the damage the "spirit" has caused!

I think that I know at least one trad leaning person who thinks that the decision of the Holy Father to alter the Good Friday prayers for the Jews in the 62 missal is an indication that the Spirit of Vatican II problem is still with us. SIGH... It's not me btw, but I do wonder how this move will effect reunion with SSPX and the Orthodox.
