Crossing the Tiber?

Speculation is mounting that President George W. Bush will follow his brother Jeb, the former Governor of Florida, into the Catholic Church. Unlike another recent world leader who famously 'Poped,' he will not have to renounce constant public (being the operative word) support for abortion, stem-cell research, "gay" marriage and anti-Catholic legislation..........oh, I forgot..... the other world leader didn't renounce any of those things. Yes - before any pinkos become any more pink of face or politics, or pompously pontificate in the comment section, or endlessly alliterate (that's my job!) he may, indeed, in humility, acknowledge the constant opposition of both Pope John Paul and Pope Benedict to the war in Iraq - we shall see!

The Bush family has "one in every camp" so to speak. Jeb, as you mentioned is Catholic (his wife is Catholic), Barbara Bush is Presbyterian, and Bush 41 is Episcopalian. "W" is Methodist (as is his wife.)

"W" is certainly a better Catholic *already* than many in that charlatan Kennedy Klan.

And frankly, it's stupid of the pope to want freedom from dictators in Europe (he didn't seem to "mind" war when the Allies were trying to kick Hitler out) - but turns a blind eye to rape rooms et al on non-Europeans being preyed on by equally bad despots.

I was wondering if I was the only one who was pondering if GWB was looking wistfully at the other side of the Tiber.

BTW - did we miss Santiago day this year? I commented on your June 13 2007 post. Where do I sign up? I was also wondering what artwork you had on that post, as it seems a bit nice than the Santiago prints I see on art.com.
